Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project Talent Acquisition and Retention Workshop
August 25, 2022 - The first of two Talent Acquisition and Retention Workshops focused on Recruiting and Hiring was held at the Pittsburg Marriott North in Cranberry, PA, on August 23, 2022.
The PA Talent Pipeline Project Regional Manager Vince Jordan from the Training Modernization Group (TMG), Inc. kicked off the session by sharing the current state of the Pittsburgh Flag eco-system and addressing key milestones and events happening over the next 3-months.
With stakeholders representing defense industrial manufacturers, private industry, technical colleges, and other local organizations, the 1-day training session provided foundational knowledge for employer and CTE partners to begin actively recruiting and hiring CTE program graduates in the Spring of 2023.
The primary focus of the PA Talent Pipeline Project is assisting participating employers in improving the performance of their talent acquisition and retention systems. This training is for and about the employers and gives them the knowledge to better understand the current labor market and how they can adjust their internal systems and create the talent pipelines to meet their needs.
“It was all valuable. I will share the PowerPoint with my team. I think they will better understand it’s not just all on HR but everyone and that we must come into the 21st century in more areas.” -Patricia Kier, Schroeder Industries HR Manager.
In attendance were representatives from 9 employers, 3 CTEs, and 5 facilitators:
Employer Partners: Ellwood National Forge, Ellwood City Forge, Ellwood Quality Steel, North American Forge Masters, Flowline/EZFlow, Hunt Valve, Global SFC, Schroeder Industries, CP Industries
CTE Partners: Pittsburgh Technical College, Mahoning County CTC, Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM)
Facilitator Partners: Catalyst Connection, BOTSIQ, Keystone Connect, Intermediate Unit 1, Submarine Industrial Base Council
