Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project Talent Acquisition and Retention Workshop

Imperial, PA - SEPTEMBER 14, 2022: The second of two Talent Acquisition and Retention Workshops focused on Recruiting and Hiring was hosted by GE Power Conversion in Imperial, PA, on September 14, 2022.

The PA Talent Pipeline Project Regional Manager Vince Jordan and Operations Officer Joey Barto from TMG, Inc. kicked off the session by sharing the current state of the Pittsburgh Flag eco-system and addressing key milestones and events happening over the next 3-months.

With stakeholders representing defense industrial manufacturers, private industry, technical colleges, and other local organizations, the 1-day training session provided foundational knowledge for Employer and Training Provider partners to begin the process of active recruiting and hiring of graduating students in the Spring of 2023.

The primary focus of the PA Talent Pipeline Project is assisting participating employers in improving the performance of their talent acquisition and retention systems. This training is for and about the employers and gives them the knowledge to better understand the current labor market and how they can adjust their internal systems and create the talent pipelines to meet their needs.

“As a teacher, it is important for me to see my students be successful during and after their time with me in school. This workshop helps make this possible by making the link between schools and local industry. This is also great because it is helping with demand of updated equipment needed within the Navy that these companies are providing while simultaneously creating job opportunities in the trades.”  - Huck Hughes, Welding Instructor at Parkway West.

In attendance were representatives from 6 employers, 4 CTEs, and 2 facilitators:

  • Employer Partners: GE Power Conversion, HOLTEC, Orrvilon Inc, MSA Safety Murrysville, MSA Safety Cranberry, and AT&FCO

  • Training Provider Partners: Community College of Allegheny County, Parkway West CTC, Lawrence County VOTEC, and Forbes Road CTC

  • Facilitator Partners: Catalyst Connection and Partner4Work
