PITTSBURGH, PA - September 21, 2022 : Launched in 2021, the Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project started in 2021 in the Philadelphia region specifically to strengthen workforce pipelines into the maritime defense industry. The expansion to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania/Northeast Ohio started earlier in 2022, and this milestone event was the official partnering meeting where Employers who have a talent demand were matched with Training Providers from across the region who have students graduating next Spring with entry level skills needed to increase defense industrial capacity in the region.

Spotlight on: a strategic role for school/business partnerships
As it gears up to launch a new generation of submarines, the U.S. Navy is looking to school-business partnerships to help ensure supplies of the roughly 1-million parts it takes to build a single sub.
Under an initiative called the Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project, it has retained TMG, Inc*, a Virginia-based company that works with employers on recruitment and retention strategies, to pair parts suppliers throughout the region with Career & Technology Centers (CTCs) and other training programs.
