Virginia Talent Pipeline Program (VTPP) Midyear Team Update and Sharing Event Recap

On February 6, the Virginia Talent Pipeline Program (VTPP) held its Midyear Team Update and Sharing Event at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside hotel in Norfolk, Virginia. The event provided over 70 representatives from employer partners, facilitators, and training providers a platform to engage in meaningful discussions concerning talent acquisition and retention processes.

During the event, participants participated in breakout sessions focused on identifying challenges and exploring effective countermeasures in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention. Key drivers for success emerged, emphasizing the pivotal roles of open communication, proactive practices, and the cultivation of culture.

Lisa Radocha, executive director of the Program Executive Office for Attack Submarines, was the keynote speaker for the event. In her address, she underscored the critical importance of collaborative events like this within the program.

“We’re all in this to uplift the entire workforce, the entire industrial base, and sharing best practices is absolutely the way we need to go. It strengthens everybody,” said Radocha.

In his closing remarks, Command Master Chief Jeff Hiscocks echoed Radocha’s sentiments and encouraged attendees to provide transparency regarding their practices and data. He also noted the significant role of participants in supporting the Navy's three priorities: warfighting, warfighters, and the foundation that supports them.

“When you look at how you contribute to those three priorities, you hit all three,” said Hiscocks.

The event provided a platform for collaboration and insightful discussions, bolstering connections and promoting success within the talent pipeline community.
