Pittsburgh Flag of the US Navy Talent Pipeline Program completes Leader Retention training at ELLWOOD City Forge Group in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania

ELLWOOD City Forge Group leadership team

November 16, 2023 - The ELLWOOD City Forge Group leadership team, led by President Valli Senthilnathan, received the TMG Leadership Retention Training program as part of their Talent System Performance Improvement Initiative. Training is an integral part of the organization's strengthening of its leadership team and how it engages its teams to improve and become high-performing teams. A key element of the training is how to implement the TMG leader tool 5th Metric Scorecard, which gives leaders a forum to identify the current state of their leader-to-led relationships within their team and establish clear and actionable plans to make meaningful improvements.

"Team member retention is always a challenge for any business and has been more so for the ones in the manufacturing industry in recent years. While we have recognized the importance of team engagement in helping with retention and have implemented processes to help improve it, we didn’t have a tool to measure engagement on a regular basis. With 5th metric scorecard, we believe that we have found the right one to measure the strength of the relationships between our leaders and team members. We are looking forward to using the tool and the other key retention processes we learned during the training to help improve our team performance. We are thankful to Vince Jordan, Kim Weingartner and the TMG group for training our leadership team and for sharing this tool with us. We are also thankful to the US Navy for dedicating its precious resources to strengthen the manufacturing base within the United States." - Valli Senthilnathan, President ELLWOOD City Forge Group.

In its second cohort group in the region, the Pittsburgh Flag is working with nearly 60 employers like Ellwood City Forge to help them improve their talent acquisition and retention systems. Each employer receives dedicated coaching and support around the elements of their talent system where they feel improvement would have the greatest impact on their business. ELLWOOD City Forge Group elected to focus on improving retention strategies and will use the training and associated leadership tools to strengthen leader-to-led relationships, increase engagement, and ultimately create an environment that can improve safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance while increasing Defense Industrial capacity.
